Anna O'Mara

Anna O’Mara is a Partner and Solicitor advising on all aspects of Wills, Trusts, Probate and Powers of Attorney. She is recognised for her approachable and empathetic manner, providing clear, practical advice to clients at what are often sensitive and challenging times.

Anna is accredited by the Association of Lifetime Lawyers (formerly Solicitors for the Elderly) and is a Dementia Friend with the Alzheimer’s Society, demonstrating her commitment to supporting older and vulnerable clients. She is also a member of the Rotary Club of Scunthorpe Pentagon and the Dying Matters group in Scunthorpe. Outside of her legal practice, Anna volunteers as a listener for the Samaritans.

Alongside her work in private client law, Anna is a strong advocate for consumer rights and public legal awareness. She has appeared on BBC programmes including Rip Off Britain and Morning Live, where she provides expert commentary on consumer issues, helping to raise awareness of common risks and empowering individuals to better understand and protect their legal position.

Anna regularly advises on a wide range of complex matters, including:

  • Inheritance Tax mitigation through Deeds of Variation and strategic Will drafting,
  • Estate and succession planning for high-value and agricultural estates;
  • Applications for and ongoing management of Deputyship Orders and Lasting Powers of Attorney;
  • Care home fee planning and asset protection;
  • Administration of complex estates and trust structures;
  • Advising trustees, including charity trustees, on governance, duties and the disposal of assets for the benefit of beneficiaries.

Anna qualified as a solicitor in 2008 having trained at a Legal 500 firm in Leeds and has extensive experience working across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. She joined Sills & Betteridge in June 2021 as a Partner. Anna is responsible for managing the Howden office.
